Aspirin and Honey Mask

In honor of our first blog post I thought I would start out with one of the first home remedies I ever tried and immediately fell in love with. What is it you ask? My honey and aspirin facial mask! Don�t underestimate how simple this recipe is because the results are amazing! 

This mask is great for people with acne prone skin and uneven skin tone because of its two great ingredients. Honey is a natural antibacterial and can help fade dark spots and reduce acne scars. Aspirin, which is similar to salicylic acid, can help reduce redness and the size of pimples. Aspirin used by itself can have a drying effect on the skin so the honey gives a nice balance of moisture. This mask is perfect for right before you go out or if you just feel like treating yourself.

Aspirin and Honey Mask

3 Uncoated aspirin

� Table spoon honey

A few drops of water

Uncoated aspirin can be purchased at your local dollar store and any kind of honey should work, I just prefer the taste of orange blossom.

Directions:

• Pour out aspirin onto a plate or bowl
• Wet your finger tips and allow 1-2 water droplets to fall onto each of the aspirin
• As the water is absorbed the aspirin will begin to break down
• Crush the aspirin together with a spoon and add more water if needed
• Mix in honey
• Apply to your face avoiding the eye area and let it sit for 15-20 minutes
• Wet your finger tips and scrub the mask in a circular motion around your face
• Rinse off

Before you apply the mask to your entire face make sure to do a test spot behind your ear to make sure you are not allergic. This recipe makes enough for about two applications and you can adjust the number of aspirin to fit your needs. If you do not have acne prone skin you will not need as much aspirin. Be sure that you do not use more than four aspirin at one time because a certain amount is absorbed through the skin. For this reason this mask should not be used habitually. Also, this only works with aspirin so do not substitute with Tylenol or any other pain reliever.
